The Heard Museum dates back to 1929 and celebrates the local indigenous influence on the city of Pheonix. Here you can see some amazing examples of art and anthropology including jewelry, basketwork, pottery, kachina dolls, and textiles. In addition, there are some grand traditional pieces in the outdoor courtyards including the sculpture garden.

Outside of the botanical gardens mentioned above, the park features dozens of nature trails, red rocks for as far as the eye can see, golf courses, and many challenging cycling routes for mountain biers. Many people enjoy walking the trails in the morning before the heat sets in. The two most popular trails are the Double Butte Loop trail and the Elliot Ramada Trail both of which are suitable for beginner hikers. If you are looking for an activity after a good hike, consider heading over to the Pheonix Zoo which is housed within the park.
