There are so many things to do in Pacific Beach. “PB,” as the locals say, is a quintessential Southern California beach town in every respect. People flock to the beach to enjoy swimming and watersports. The neighborhood is also a prime spot for surfers. There are numerous cafes, bars, and eateries within view of the beaches and a boardwalk where beachgoers enjoy jogging, rollerblading, and bicycling. Get to know some of this San Diego neighborhood’s most popular attractions.
Understanding the history of Pacific Beach will help you understand your destination.
First Thing To Do in Pacific Beach: Visit The Beach
The sand and surf are Pacific Beach’s chief attractions. Head to the beach to enjoy swimming, water sports, beach volleyball, and more. The area’s beaches are staffed by lifeguards, and feature expected amenities like showers and bathrooms. Additionally, beachgoers will find many eateries, bars, and shops near the coast. If you’re not interested in swimming or lounging on the sand, consider renting a bike and cycling down the boardwalk, which runs parallel to the beach.
Crystal Pier
If you’re traveling to for a fun getaway, book a stay at one of the cottages on Crystal Pier. The cottages are perched on a pier that leads into the sea. Each features a kitchenette, a private patio, and modern amenities. Staying at the dock means you’ll be near the beach and enjoy gorgeous Pacific views from sunrise to sunset. You can also enjoy fishing off the pier or visiting the nearby shops. This is one of my favorite things to do here.
Tourmaline Surfing Park
Visit Tourmaline Surf Park to take advantage of its hot surf scene. If you’re not into surfing, you can still enjoy sailboarding or kite surfing at any time of year. The park is located on the edge of Pacific Beach and La Jolla. Many rentals are located in this area if you plan to spend a few days here. This is the best thing to do in Pacific Beach if you can surf.
PB has a ton of bars and restaurants as well as an exciting nightlife scene. Owing to the neighborhood’s popularity as a beach town, there are many rentals in the area if you need water sports equipment, beach chairs, or even bicycles.
And since PB is only a 20-minute drive from Tijuana – a visit to Mexico is in order! Just check the article about Mexican Insurance in Pacific Beach before you go.
