Overview of the Palacio de Bellas Artes

Construction of this illustrious building began in 1904 but didn’t inaugurate until 1934. Construction delays as a result of the Mexican Revolution as well as architectural difficulties.  The span of the building’s construction is also something that adds to its appeal. The exterior has Art Nouveau and Neo-Classical styles while the interior is largely Art Deco.  The interior is truly worth seeing with its marble surfaces and world-famous murals.

Mexico has many cultural attractions, but this palace holds a special place for the country.  Internationally famous year-round, the Palacio de Bellas Artes often tops best-of lists about Mexico. It is not difficult to understand why given its illustrious history as the primary hub for Mexican arts and artists.
